Ingredients
Benzoin (Soothing)
Indigenous to the Far East, benzoin was used medicinally to treat dry cracked skin. The deep penetrative quality of its rich, slightly woody scent aids healing of vital superfical circulation in the muscles and tendons.
Cinnamon (Fragrant)
Originally from Sri Lanka, cinnamon was used medicinally in ancient Egypt as well as for flavouring dishes. Cinnamon oil is an anti-fungal and anti-bacterial agent, with a sweet and fragrant aroma.
Nutmeg (Healing)
The nutmeg tree is native to the Spice Islands of Indonesia. It produces two spices: nutmeg and mace. Nutmeg has long been lauded with possessing "magical powers", and in small doses it can aid a varity of ailments.
Clove (Antiseptic)
From the Spice Islands of Indonesia and used as early as 400BC, clove oil is a strong antiseptic. It comes from the tropical clove tree and its bouquet and flavour are both pungent and strongly aromatic.
Storax (Calming)
Found in trees discovered in Mexico in the 16th Century, storax is now harvested in forests in Turkey and elsewhere. It has an agreeable, calming balsamic odour.
Arachis (Softening)
A wild plant from South America, arachis was introduced in pre-Columbian times to the West Indies and Mexico. Its oil softens and soothes the skin.
Mint (Aromatic)
The Greeks used mint to aid their bodies, and the Romans brought it to Britian. Used by monks in medieval times for its culinary and medicinal properties, mint is thought to have been taken by the pilgrim fathers to America. We all love it for its pleasant smell and taste.
Cucumber (Relaxing)
Native to India, cucumber quickly spread to Greece and Italy. Brought to Britain by the Romans, Emperor Tiberius ate it daily. A natural coolant, the effect on the skin helps keep the feet relaxed, especially in extreme conditions.
Lavender (Peaceful)
Romans used lavender to perfume their bath water, as an antiseptic lotion, and to help them relax. Elizabeth I loved lavender, and Queen Victoria used lavender water. We love it for its gentle scent and powerful sense of peace.
